Refund Policy

Refunds/Deferrals due to Cancellation by YOU

All registrations for in-person TRi KiDS events are non-refundable after the purchase is complete. You have the option to purchase registration insurance when you register your athlete to cover a limited number of scenarios that would prevent your athlete from participating.

Should your athlete no longer be able to attend the event for any reason, there are a number of recourse options available:

  1. Transfer your registration to another event or another participant (if space is available). This process must be completed at least 14 days prior to the event date. Note: We are unable to facilitate any sales of registrations and transferred athletes may not receive their name on a bib if it’s after the personalization deadline.
  2. If your request is received at least 30 days prior to the event, you may defer your registration to any event in the 2024 season for no fee.
  3. If your request is received between 29 and 14 days prior to the event, you may defer your registration to any event in the 2024 season for $10 + HST + fees per athlete.
  4. We do not offer deferrals if the race is less than 14 days away.

Refunds/Deferrals due to Cancellation by US

We apologize, but unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds for any events that are cancelled. While the event is not taking place, a portion of the registration funds has already been spent in anticipation of the event, whether it happens or not. Every race is different, but we feel our transfer and deferral policy are fair and in line with or exceed what many others are doing in our industry.

The following options will be available to those currently registered for a cancelled event:

  • You will be provided with a 100% deferral into the same event in 2025.
  • You also have the option of transferring your registration to a virtual event and receiving a partial refund of $15 (less fees charged by Race Roster).

The following options will be available to those registered for an event that is rescheduled to a new date in 2024:

  • Athletes currently registered will be automatically transferred to the new date.
  • If the new date does not work, a 100% deferral into the same event in 2025 will be provided.
  • You also have the option of transferring your registration to a virtual event and receiving a partial refund of $15 (less fees charged by Race Roster).

Please note that this policy only applies to events cancelled by us. Please review the policy above for individual athlete cancellations.

For events that are affected, you will receive a specific email with instructions regarding event options or deferral. We realize there is much uncertainty regarding any events being completed this summer and thank you for your patience and support.

In Case of Inclement Weather

In the event of heavy wind, rain, lightning, or other Acts of God in the area, the start of the swim may be delayed until the weather has passed.  This decision is made in coordination with Triathlon Ontario and their policies.  If the weather shows no signs of letting up, or if lightning is still in the area, the swim portion of the event may be cancelled, and the event will proceed as a duathlon (run, bike, run), provided the bike and run courses are safe to proceed on.

If after an extended period of time of severe weather and all courses are deemed to be unsafe, the event could be cancelled entirely.  There are several factors that go into this decision including: local road permit allowances/times, paid duty police officers/schedules, time allowances at the specific venue where the race is held, and medical staff schedules and volunteer/staff help as well as the direction from Triathlon Ontario.

This would only be considered after all other options to still put on a race are not available.  Since all of our venues take place outside, weather conditions can play a significant role at any race. By race day, much of the registration fees have been used for services that we pay whether the event happens or not and because of this there will be no refunds if the event is cancelled due to weather.  Registrants will still receive their race kits, t-shirts, food and any other items they would have collected at the event.

Merchandise

All merchandise (including hats, crew sweaters, hoodies, etc.) is non-refundable after purchase. Merchandise purchased at an event can be exchanged for a different size (if available) on the date of purchase.
