COVID-19 & TRi KiDS – Updates

Vaccination Policy

As of March 1, the Ontario government has removed the requirement to enforce vaccine passports at indoor venues. All of our venues and their applicable public health unit have confirmed that they will not be requiring vaccine passports for participants and spectators in their facilities.

TRi KiDS will not be requiring vaccine passports at any race in 2022. This policy applies to participants, spectators, and volunteers.

Please note that any changes to vaccine passports and other COVID restrictions may occur between the date of this update and the race day. Any additional regulations or laws that will affect the race day experience will be communicated as soon as they are understood.

Should this policy or any future restrictions affect your athlete’s ability to participate, your options will be consistent with the ones currently available in our refund policy. Thank you for your understanding.

Face Coverings Policy

As of March 21, the Ontario government has removed the requirement to enforce mandatory face coverings at most venues in the province. However, all of our venues continue to require the wearing of face coverings until participation in an activity begins.

For TRi KiDS, this will mean that athletes will need to wear face coverings while inside the pool area before they begin their race. After the race begins, they will not be required to wear the face covering again. Spectators in the pool area will be required to wear a face covering at all times while indoors. Thank you for your cooperation.

Refunds/Deferrals due to COVID-19 Cancellations

We apologize, but unfortunately, we are not able to offer refunds for any events that are cancelled. While the event is not taking place, a portion of the registration funds has already been spent in anticipation of the event, whether it happens or not. Every race is different, but we feel our transfer and deferral policy are fair and in line with or exceed what many others are doing in our industry.

The following options will be available to those currently registered for a cancelled event:

  • You will be provided with a 100% deferral into the same event in 2023.
  • You also have the option of transferring your registration to the TRi KiDS at Home Virtual Event and receiving a partial refund of $15.

The following options will be available to those registered for an event that is rescheduled to a new date in 2022:

  • Athletes currently registered will be automatically transferred to the new date.
  • If the new date does not work, a 100% deferral into the same event in 2023 will be provided.
  • You also have the option of transferring your registration to the TRi KiDS at Home Virtual Event and receiving a partial refund of $15.

Please note that this policy only applies to events cancelled by us. Please review our Refund Policy for more information on individual athletes requesting refunds or deferrals.

For events that are affected, you will receive a specific email with instructions regarding event options or deferral. We realize there is much uncertainty regarding any events being completed this summer and thank you for your patience and support.

We understand that COVID-19 will remain a factor when gathering around other people in 2022, even as vaccinations increase and life returns to normality.

Please note that certain policies and procedures implemented in 2021 for COVID-19 (particularly parents being allowed on the pool deck and in transition) were temporary measures. However, we are evaluating the success of these policies and will update you when a decision is made for 2022.

We will update this page as necessary with announcements or procedures, as the situation in Ontario becomes clearer throughout the coming months. Rest assured that our team will have the necessary precautions in place and do everything in our power to decrease any risk of virus transmission, while keeping the fun atmosphere of TRi KiDS going!

Of course, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
