You heard right!

The TRi KiDS Triathlon Series will open registration on Friday, July 23rd at 10:00am. The following races will be open to registration:

TRi KiDS Niagara (Port Colborne) – Sunday, August 15

TRi KiDS Fergus (age groups 3 to 5, 6-7 and 8-9 only) – Sunday, August 22

TRi KiDS Milton – Sunday, September 5

All deferrals have been contacted, please check your inbox if you deferred a race in 2020. If you received a refund last year (most did) you are not considered a deferral.

Due to public health guidelines we have reduced capacities and safety protocols will be in place. There will be no wait lists for any race.

We ask for your patience as we update the website. Most pages are not up to date.

We are excited to be back racing again and look forward to seeing our TRi KiDS families soon.

TRi KiDS at Home 2021 (SOLD OUT)

Announcing TRi KiDS at Home 2021! —-SOLD OUT

Although we are hopeful there will be in person TRi KiDS races later this summer, we would like to offer the opportunity to host your own TRi KiDS race at home complete with a race bib, medal, tote bag, Fruit to Go and more.

With TRi KiDS at Home athletes and parents can be creative in designing your own event. Choose your three events, pick your distance or amount of time for each activity, and get moving. If you do not have access to a pool, try substituting an activity like skipping, jumping on a trampoline or make it a run-bike-run. We have even included a colourful streamer to break through at the finish.

Each TRi KiDS at Home race kit includes a race bib, tote bag, pencil case, mini cow bell, button, tattoos, Fruit to Go, helpful race tips, finish line streamer and medal.

The fee of $30 per kit includes tax and shipping. Payment is accepted by e-transfer.

You also have the option of adding a sporty royal blue TRi KiDS race hat to your kit. The hats are lightweight and washable. Although they have an adjustable clasp we recommend measuring to ensure a good fit. The inside circumference is approximately 20” with the clasp adjusted to the smallest size. To include a hat in your race package please add $18.

Tri Kids Medals

January Update

Dear TRi KiDS Families,

With vaccinations and increased prevention measures we are both optimistic and realistic for the upcoming TRi KiDS season. We are preparing for, at the very least, an abbreviated schedule with lower capacities and safety modifications.

Unfortunately, due to the timing of TRi KiDS Burnaby we have made the decision to cancel the event for 2021. It is not realistic to plan for this race considering we, and the crew travel from Ontario and with it being so early in the pandemic recovery. This is extremely disappointing given the tradition of TRi KiDS Burnaby being the kickoff to the season and it is one of our largest races with 650 athletes.

The remaining events are still in the planning stages. Even with the uncertainty we want to be ready to go when events get the green light, and we feel we can provide a safe environment for everybody.

With that we will postpone the opening of registration until April when we hope there is more clarity.

Announcements will be made on our website, social media as well as through email.

Fall Update

We hope you are well and staying active into the fall and winter. It has been a while since we have posted so here is an update. Positive vibes please!
We are optimistic for the return to TRi KiDS events in 2021, although with some necessary modifications to keep us all safe. Wearing masks, physical distancing and crowd size will be the key priorities. Of course, as things related to COVID19 change our plans will adapt and adjust accordingly. Some possible adaptations we are considering and preparing for include; reducing race capacities, staggered age group check in throughout the day, one athlete per lane in the swim, minimizing interaction with volunteers/crew, reducing the number of bikes in each row in transition and pre-packaged items only post race. It is our intention to host TRi KiDS events in 2021 in the same locations and weekends. Traditionally registration would open in January, however we will be postponing this until such time as we have all regional and municipal approvals to proceed. We estimate this to be in early spring.
As always, we are committed to providing the most positive, enjoyable, safe, athlete and family-oriented events possible.
We will provide another update in January.

TRi KiDS at Home

Even though there are no TRi KiDS races on the calendar this summer the season is all about enjoying the outdoors. Whether you’re taking daily family walks, brisk hikes or long bike rides, being physically active is more important than ever.
TRi KiDS at Home is an event that parents and athletes can create together and complete at home this summer. Triathlon combines three sports; swimming, biking and running but TRi KiDS at Home can be tailored to include any three activities. No pool, no problem, replace the swim portion with skipping rope or jumping on a trampoline. Take this opportunity to create your very own triathlon!
After completing the TRi KiDS at Home event parents can award their athlete with a 2020 TRi KiDS medal (sure to be a collectors item) and a snack!
TRi KiDS at Home fee is $18 for the first athlete and $5 for each additional athlete. Payment accepted by e-transfer only. Package includes a medal and snack for each athlete.
Be sure to post pictures of your athletes during and after your TRi KiDS at Home event, and share your ideas with others. Tag @ TRiKiDSTriathlonSeries and @ for a chance to win a TRi KiDS prize pack, including the 2020 designed hat! The random draw will take place in September.
To register, send us an email and include your family name, full mailing address and number of athletes participating (number of medals). You will receive a confirmation email and payment instructions. TRi KiDS at Home will be available all summer long while supplies last.

TRi KiDS Niagara and Milton Cancelled

Dear TRi KiDS Athletes and Families,
As you may know we have had to cancel our first four races of the season and rescheduled TRi KiDS Milton to September. Our sincere hope was that we would find ourselves in a position to hold races by August. Unfortunately this is not the case and we have now made the difficult decision to cancel both TRi KiDS Niagara and Milton.
Physical distancing is one of the key strategies against the spread of COVID 19 and the very nature of our events is about the gathering of athletes, families and volunteers, not only in preparation for the race during kit pick up, but during the excitement of the race and the celebration at the finish line. The guidelines and processes that would have to be implemented are significant and in some cases impossible. Public health and safety of all is a priority as is ensuring our volunteers and crew are comfortable.
We will be refunding your registration fee in full, including tax. The refund will not include the processing fee that was charged by Race Roster, a third party registration provider. Refunds will be processed starting June 8th.
We are very disappointed to lose the entire 2020 TRi KiDS season and will miss the time we share with you, the volunteers and the TRi KiDS Crew.

TRi KiDS Okanagan and Calgary

More disappointing news – we have decided to cancel both TRi KiDS Okanagan, scheduled for July 12th and TRi KiDS Calgary, scheduled for July 19th. All registered athletes have the option of deferring their registration until next season, or take the automatic refund. An email was sent on Sunday. Read more here.

TRi KiDS Milton – New Date

Dear TRi KiDS Milton Athletes and Families,

 

As pools, parks and recreation centres continue to be closed for the foreseeable future we have decided to reschedule TRi KiDS Milton to Sunday, September 6th (Labour Day weekend). The Town of Milton is not able to issue our permit for the new date at this time, and we caution that if the restrictions placed on large group gatherings is extended, or we don’t feel we can execute a safe event in September, we will cancel and provide options to registered athletes.

 

AUTOMATIC TRANSFER:

All registered athletes in the June 28th event will be transferred to the event on September 6th. Transfers are automatic and we do not need instruction to do so.

 

DEFERRAL OPTION:

We offer the option of deferring your TRi KiDS Milton registration to any race in the 2021 season. To defer your registration send us an email and include athlete name(s). Please note locations and dates for 2021 are not confirmed and will not be announced until December. Deferral requests sent by email must be received by April 28th.

 

REFUND OPTION:

If the new date of September 6th does not work for your family we can offer a refund. We will be refunding your registration fee in full, including tax. The refund does not include the processing fee that was charged by Race Roster, a third party registration provider. To refund your registration fee send us an email no later than April 28th. Requested refunds will be processed after April 28th.

 

Registration for TRi KiDS Milton is closed to new registrations for now but may reopen at a later date.

TRi KiDS Burlington Cancelled

Dear TRi KiDS Burlington Athletes and Families,
Due to the extended closure of pools, parks and recreation centres in Burlington we are very sad and disappointed to announce the cancellation of TRi KiDS Burlington scheduled for June 7, 2020.
REFUND:
We will be refunding your registration fee in full, including tax. The refund will not include the processing fee that was charged by our third party registration provider. Refunds will be processed after April 10th, once the deferral deadline has passed.
DEFERRAL OPTION:
We also offer the option of deferring your TRi KiDS Burlington race registration to any race in the 2021 season. To defer your registration send us an EMAIL. Please note locations and dates for 2021 are not confirmed and will not be announced until December. Any deferred registrations will fall under the refund policy currently stated on our website.
Refunds are automatic and we do not need instruction to do so. Deferral requests sent by email must be received by APRIL 10th.

TRi KiDS Burnaby – Cancelled

Dear TRi KiDS Burnaby Athletes and Families,

We are very sad and disappointed to announce the cancellation of TRi KiDS Burnaby scheduled for May 31, 2020. Under the circumstances and in consultation with the City of Burnaby we have made this difficult decision.

We will be refunding your registration fee in full, including tax. The refund will not include the processing fee that was charged by our third party registration provider. Refunds may take some time to process and we appreciate your patience.

Unfortunately we cannot offer a deferral to TRi KiDS Burnaby 2021. As you may know C.G. Brown Pool will be closing for renovation this fall and it is expected to take two years to complete. At this time we do not have an alternate site.

COVID-19 Update

Dear TRi KiDS and Families,

Like all event organizers in Canada and around the world, we have been monitoring the news and government updates regarding COVID-19.

We continue to plan for all 2020 TRi KiDS races starting with our first race at the end of May, still over two months away.

We are working closely with our city partners in each race location and continue to review the latest regional information to assess the public health risks based on this rapidly changing environment.

If the status of any of our races is impacted we will communicate these changes in a timely fashion.

Calling All Awesome Volunteers – Registration is Open!

Volunteer registration is now open for the season. We would love to see you back again…or if you’ve never volunteered with TRi KiDS give it a TRi! Volunteers are such an important part of the races and we are very fortunate to have worked with so many enthusiastic volunteers over the years. Some have been with us since the beginning – 11 years!
