Age Group Assignments
Athletes are assigned to an age group based on their YEAR OF BIRTH. Their age on race day is not used to assign age groups. As an example, all athletes turning 8 this year, whether their birthday is in January or December, will participate in the 8 – 9 age group. The chart below lists the age group assignment based on year of birth.
Athletes in the 3 – 5 age group must have one parent/guardian accompany them in the water. The adult must be within arm’s length of the athlete in the pool.
Each event location page has a distance chart for the swim, bike and run. All distances are subject to change.
Note that due to course safety concerns, not all races are open to the 14-15 year old age category.
If you feel your child is not ready to be in the age group based on their year of birth please contact us by email prior to registering. Once athletes are assigned to an age group, specifically for sold out races, moving to another age group may not be possible. Contact us in advance of the race.
